12/7/2019 - Geoff U.

We have used SAC in the past - to purchase and install a whole-house humidifier. They did a great job then. This morning (Saturday) we woke up to no heat and a non-functioning furnace. I called SAC and left a message at the office. Kirk (the owner?) called me from his personal phone, while out of town, a few minutes later, to tell me that they were short handed and unavailable, but after I described what the furnace was doing, he took the time to diagnose the problem AND walk me through how to fix it myself. I mean, not in crazy detail but specifically enough to where I could easily figure out what he was talking about. I got the furnace working again. I would definitely recommend SAC in the future.

We finally decided to have a ductless A/C system installed in our house. We chose S.A.C. Mechanical after having 4 companies review our situation and provide us quotes. They were not the least expensive, and were much less than the highest estimate. They impressed us right away as being very capable and experienced in the installation of these systems. And they did an excellent job.
They helped us with getting HOA approval, they were understanding about how we needed to conform to certain requirements on the exterior, and they were able to configure the inside to be exactly how we had hoped. They started the work on time, were clean and careful in their work. They completed the install in 2 days. They know what they are doing and we are very happy with the result.

Very satisfied! SAC replaced our 30-year old furnace and AC unit, and installed a new Aprilaire automatic humidifier. The work was completed in one day. Everyone we met, connected with the company, was courteous, respectful, and professional. We have recommended SAC to our neighbor and will do so to friends and family in the future. Most helpful. SAC installed an Aprilaire 800 whole house humidifier in our home in Boulder. Their estimate was considerably less than their competition; they were able to complete the install in less than a week after we agreed to hire them. The crew and salesman were all prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and easy to deal with - no extraneous marketing or upselling. I would highly recommend them for any HVAC related job and will be calling them the next time we need service in that area. Geoff U.* | Boulder CO | April 4th 2016

SAC repaired my residential A/C rooftop coil summer 2015. Other Boulder area HVAC companies tried to sell entire A/C unit replacement (including costly crane installation to roof) as they informed me that unit was out of warranty. SAC was able to get part under warranty and got the job done on time at a reasonable cost.
Recommended SAC to friend for her home A/C replacement and she was satisfied with installation and cost.

Impeccable. These people installed a fairly comprehensive HVAC system in my home. They were attentive and the owner and Rich and Jeannie and everyone I can't remember were awesome. These people are all on the same page and just took care of me. Rich even returned to my home and installed my CO monitor so I could pass inspection. I cannot express in words my appreciation for the worry-free operation they run.

Hello Kevin, your guys were great and we are happy with the install. We'll certainly recommend you (in fact, I already have on a neighborhood board). John* | Longmont Co | August 26th 2015

SAC, and their man Rich Koon, did a great job for me with getting my A/C back up and running. Rich found a few problems and fixed them, gave me some valuable advice and did not over-charge or try to upsell me. I appreciated the good service and honest. And now - we're cool! Great service!
I've dealt with several people from the company and they have always been extremely professional and beyond friendly.
We had a new furnace put in and also a hot water heater installed. It was done quickly and efficiently. I will be using SAC for all my future HVAC needs including servicing and maintenance.

Checked out existing malfunctioning whole house humidifier and replaced with new one
Customer Comments:
Our present whole house steam humidifier had been working fine for 8 years then quit.  Researched several brands and decided on an Aprilaire.  Selected 4 dealers in the area, called for pricing with house size (3900sf) and explained present situation.  They sent out a technician who evaluated old system and tried to fix but was unable to without further testing and the expense involved.  Based on what he saw and the projected cost of repair vs cost of a new Aprilaire it was close enough that I decided on the new unit.  This company's response and communication were outstanding from the office to the technician.  They did exactly what was promised & did it efficiently and promptly.  The manufacturer's warranty covers 5 years of parts and the dealer covered 2 years of labor.

Condensation from AC started leaking from area behind unit
Member Comments:
My service guy was Hugh Tanner....my unit was working fine...the problem was that some condensation wasn't going into the condensate pump and leaking on the back side..and into the basement bathroom. He was able to find a coil that was out of level and allowing the water to go the other way. Hugh had to engineer a solution. The unit is now totally dry....my thought is that this kind of repair takes a lot of skill...thanks SAC and Hugh!

Testimonials - SAC Mechanical - messageverify
After everybody left my house Friday the unit wouldn't bring the temp down faster than apx. 1 degree every 4 hours. On Saturday I shut the unit down and restarted it, and then Joe called and went over things with me. The unit worked fine after the restart and has been running well since then. Kevin is going to get me the parts to put in the extra return so we should be in good shape from here out.

Thank your man in Denver for getting me in touch with SAC Mechanical. I will be calling them for any problems I come across in the future.

Thank you for coming up with the SAC Mechanical gang. Everyone was very professional, and in the end the system works fine.

Whole house humidifier
Customer Comments:
We recently moved to Colorado, bought a house, and my wife was convinced our faces would fall off if we didn't get a humidifier. After some chapped lips in the morning I tended to think she might be on to something. I did some googling and decided several things
1. Wanted a whole house humidifier.
2. Narrowed it down to 2 brands, Aprilaire, and Honeywell
3. Did not have the time or desire to install it myself.
So, I hopped onto Angie's list to find someone. I chose 3 companies in the area based on their reviews. The first company quoted a price (the lowest of the three) without asking for the square footage of my home, when it was built, where my furnace was located, etc,. All of these are important when sizing the correct humidifier and determining the labor required to install. The second quoted what I thought was an extremely high price for the job, and for a model I did not want. He did ask me the questions I thought should be asked and answered some others I had. The last one was SAC Mechanical. The price was okay, not great IMO since I knew the cost of the humidifier, but Kevin was willing to install the humidifier of my choice and answered all my questions. Perhaps I could have shopped around a bit more but our faces were starting to fall off. He and the person who installed the humidifier were professional and knowledgeable. The job was done well and on time. So, fair price, great service = a winner in my book. Thanks SAC!

My air conditioner quit working Friday. Hugh from SAC Mechanical came and fixed it.
Comments:
I started calling service companies on Saturday morning. Only one other company answered or returned my call. They had no availability until Tuesday. SAC said they could come Saturday afternoon. I explained that I was going to pick up my god daughter from the airport. Hugh said no problem, he would come Saturday evening. Sure enough, he was waiting at the house when we drove up. He spent almost three hours but he got it fixed. He showed me the bad part. He explained everything. He ran into a problem and had access to phone assistance. Company that will work on Saturday night, has the right part with them, has backup support and is mighty pleasant to work with is number one in my book. Hugh saved the weekend. Thank you.

Description of Work: Checked out my old Trane condenser, which was tripping the breaker every time it was turned on. Ended up replacing my central air conditioning unit with a new system based on Rheem/Ruud components. Also found that my furnace air intake was not connected to the outside air tube and fixed that for no charge.

Member Comments: My Trane air conditioner went kaput, so I called SAC Mechanical initially to see if they could repair it. They are listed as a Trane dealer in the phone book. They came out and looked at the unit and found that the compressor had electrical faults in it that caused it to trip the breaker. They went back to Trane and found out that they could get a compressor with a 1 year warranty. They also suggested that it would be a better deal to replace the old unit (which used R22 refrigerant) with a new Rheem unit that had a 10 year warranty. I already had quotes from several other dealers to replace the air conditioner, so I asked them for a quote. The technician that came out was the only estimator that actually walked around the house and counted the number and size of vents and returns that I have The other estimators all looked at the old 5 ton unit and assumed that I would need the same size. SAC Mechanical then came back with a quote for a 4 ton unit that would match my Rheem furnace and use the existing Rheem coil cabinet for the lowest cost. They were able to install the unit three business days after I had verbally accepted their bid. The president of the company personally brought their written proposal to my home to sign before the work was done. He told me that the warehouse had shipped them an equivalent Ruud unit instead of the Rheem that we had discussed. Because Rheem and Ruud are essentially equivalent, I accepted the change in units. They were careful to lay drop clothes from the front door to the mechanical room in the basement. They used two installers so the work went quickly. They also serviced my furnace and found that my furnace's air intake was disconnected from the outside air tube, and repaired that for no charge.
